A fourteen-year-old boy was arrested in Roosendaal on Tuesday afternoon for setting off a fireworks bomb earlier that afternoon at a jeweler and a school in the city. The boy is also suspected of setting off heavy fireworks on Sunday at a jeweler in the Rosado outlet center in Roosendaal.
The boy was arrested in the Tolberg district. The police tracked him down partly thanks to camera images. When he was arrested, he had a lighter in his pocket and officers found a Cobra 6 in his bedroom in his parental home.
Around a quarter to four on Tuesday, shopkeepers and visitors in the Passage in Roosendaal were startled by a fireworks bomb that exploded against the facade of a jewelry store. The perpetrator is said to be a young boy who quietly left the shopping center shortly after the explosion.
Half an hour later it was reported that a fireworks bomb had gone off on the square of the Wingerd primary school on the Kersenberg in Roosendaal. Here the explosion led to much unrest among the teachers, parents and children present.
Recognized from camera images
Officers then saw the 14-year-old boy walking near the school. He matched the description of the perpetrator and was recognized from the jeweler’s camera images. Reason to keep him.
The young suspect will be interrogated on Wednesday, the police said.
