Numerous fires on Thursday night in Berlin: It burned in Gesundbrunnen, Wilhelmstadt, Hohenschönhausen and Hermsdorf. There were also several car fires.
Residential building in Wilhelmstadt burns at night
In an eight-story apartment building in Berlin-Wilhelmstadt, there was a fire at around 3:30 a.m. No one was injured, the fire department said. On the balcony on the fourth floor of the building on Sandstrasse in the Spandau district, furniture had caught fire for reasons that have not yet been clarified. The fire had spread to the living room.
The fire brigade was able to prevent worse, the fire threatened to spread to several apartments. The 36 firefighters managed to prevent this.
House fire in Gesundbrunnen – two injured
Shortly before midnight, there was a fire in the rear building of a five-storey residential building on Exerzierstrasse in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen. Two people were injured, the fire department said on Thursday. One of them was taken to the hospital.
The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building shortly before midnight on Wednesday evening, for reasons that have not yet been clarified, and also hit the roof. The fire brigade had arrived with 97 emergency services. These were quickly deleted, it said.
The parade street was completely blocked during the extinguishing work, and there were also traffic obstructions at the intersection of Schwedenstrasse, Colony Street and Bad Street.
Apartment fire in Hermsdorf – two injured
An apartment on Berliner Strasse in Reinickendorf in the Hermsdorf district was already on fire late Wednesday afternoon. According to initial information, furnishings in the apartment were on fire, and the fire brigade took two residents to nearby hospitals with suspected smoke inhalation. The B96 Berliner Straße was temporarily closed.
There was also an apartment fire in Hohenschönhausen on Wednesday evening, in which 20 people were evacuated.
Several car fires in Marzahn and Prenzlauer Berg
On Thursday morning around 1 a.m., first a BMW and then an Opel were on fire on the Marzahner Promenade not far from Bruno-Baum-Strasse. The fire brigade extinguished the vehicles, but could no longer prevent them from burning out. Arson is currently suspected.
At around 3 a.m. in the morning, a VW transporter and a trailer were on fire in a tenant parking lot. The fire brigade extinguished. Arson is also suspected here.
