A fighter jet crashed into a residential area in the Russian city of Yeysk. This was confirmed by the Russian Defense Ministry on Monday evening.
The Sukhoi SU-34 crashed during a training flight, the ministry said. The plane had problems with one of the engines. The two men from the cockpit would have saved themselves with parachutes, it was said.

The fact is, however, that the port city of Jeysk is so close to Ukraine that airstrikes could be launched from there.
After the crash, the fuel ignited in the courtyard of a residential building – the flames spread to a building.
The state news agency Tass, citing an eyewitness, reported that nine floors had caught fire. The authorities initially spoke of four burning floors.
There were initially no reports of deaths or injuries.
