Fire on balcony Apeldoorn flat, surrounding apartments briefly evacuated | Apeldoorn

Residents of an apartment on the Koning Lodewijklaan in Apeldoorn await an unpleasant surprise when they return home. Tonight a fire broke out on the balcony of their fourth-floor apartment while they were away from home. Local residents had to leave their apartment for a short time.

The fire raged on the balcony of the apartment complex, which includes several shops. The apartment where the balcony fire was, is above the Spar. Neighbors across the street saw flames and a lot of smoke, so they called 911. Two fire extinguishers and an aerial platform were used to extinguish the fire. Six police cars also came to the fire.

Part of Koning Lodewijklaan was closed with ribbons for a while. Surrounding homes were evacuated, leaving between twenty and thirty residents outside during the extinguishing. After the extinguishing, the houses were released again and the residents were able to go home.

The fire officer on duty could not say exactly what caused the fire. The fire was quickly brought under control and out, but the apartment was damaged. According to the officer, a drainpipe and a garden chair on the balcony caught fire, among other things.

As far as is known, no injuries have been reported.
