Fire Night in Berlin! Junk, house roof and cars in flames

During the night of Saturday, the Berlin fire brigade had to move out to several fires.

First, the rescuers were after Staaken called, where around midnight junk was burning in a hallway of an apartment building in Zeppelinstrasse. Residents on the second floor fled to safety on a balcony.

The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly, nobody was injured.

During the extinguishing work, the emergency services discovered a fire in another hallway, which could also be extinguished.

“According to the current state of knowledge, parked sofas were set on fire in both cases. The emergency services were able to prevent the flames from spreading to apartments,” said a police spokesman on Saturday morning.

In Weißensee there was a fire at around 2.30 a.m. at a construction site in Streustraße. Several packages of styrofoam insulation and a car were on fire.

The heat radiation also damaged two windows and the facade of the adjacent empty company building, a police spokesman said. During the operation, the gritting road was closed in both directions until around 3 a.m.

In Pücklerstrasse Schmargendorf At around 4.30 a.m. the roof structure of a villa caught fire after it had initially burned in the adjacent carport. Around 80 firefighters responded to fight the fire.

The fire spread under the roof tiles, making it difficult to put out the fire. In some cases, the roof had to be removed to get to the source of the fire. The work lasted a long time. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it was initially unclear how extensive the damage was.

At around 4:20 a.m., a Mercedes caught fire on Heckerdamm Charlottenburg. Despite the firefighting operation, the vehicle burned out completely.

Police suspect arson as the cause, as a witness reported seeing a person handling the vehicle before the fire. The arsonist escaped undetected.
