Fire interior store Heemstede started in warehouse, extinguishing will take hours

A fire broke out in an interior design store on Kerklaan in Heemstede. At just after 7 p.m. the fire brigade received a report, which arrived on site with many vehicles to extinguish the flames.

The area around the building is cordoned off with ribbons. Due to the smoke, local residents are called on with an NL Alert to keep windows and doors closed. “There is no wind, so the smoke lingers,” explains a spokesperson for the Kennemerland Safety Region.

Some people did not receive the emergency message until later in the evening, but the warning still applies.

Fire Heemstede – NH News

No one was in the building when the fire broke out. There is a gym next to the interior design store. The people there have been evacuated, the safety region reports. A bystander says that four homes have also been evacuated.

Carpet rolls in the warehouse

The fire broke out in the store’s warehouse, possibly in carpet rolls. Research must show whether this is actually the case and how it could happen.

The safety region announced at around 9 p.m. on X that extinguishing the fire will probably take hours. Around 10:30 p.m., the fire brigade deliberately allowed the fire to flare up so that it could ultimately be extinguished more easily.
