A fire broke out at a farmhouse on the Westdijk in Zuidschermer this evening. The fire brigade is currently still working to extinguish the spreading house fire.
Update:
The fire is now under control, the Safety Region reports. No one was injured. The Salvage Foundation will assist the residents in further dealing with the damage the home has sustained.
The fire brigade spent hours extinguishing the fire. Due to the heat, firefighters took turns and cooling chairs were available for them.
The fire broke out around seven o’clock this evening. Several fire engines and an ambulance were called. “This is a domestic fire that is spreading and the fire brigade is still extinguishing it,” a fire brigade spokesperson said.
The residents of the house are currently outside. “One person was checked in the ambulance but did not have to be taken to hospital,” the spokesperson said.
It is unknown how the fire could have started. Due to water extraction for the fire, the N244 next to the Westdijk is closed between Alkmaar and the Graft.
