At around 1:45 p.m., a heavy fire raged in the former Zeepark campsite. The cafeteria in the central building was ablaze. The fire brigade arrived on site and the fire appears to have been extinguished. There was some disruption in Nieuwpoortlaan in De Panne, but passage remained possible. “It is a blazing fire,” says spokesman Kristof Louagie of the Westhoek fire brigade. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
