A fire broke out on the Diaconessenlaan in Naarden tonight. The fire raged in two adjacent senior homes. Three people were injured. It is not yet clear how the fire started. By 11 a.m., firefighters said they had the fire under control.
Just before ten o’clock tonight, a fire broke out in a house on the Diaconessenlaan in Naarden. Less than half an hour later, the fire was scaled up to ‘very large fire’. This upscaling has to do with the fact that the fire service needs more staff to evacuate the apartments above. At eleven o’clock tonight the fire brigade had it under control.
Three people were injured in the fire, reports the spokesman for the Gooi en Vechtstreek security region. “All three of them inhaled smoke,” said the spokesman. Two of these were taken to hospital, the third could be checked on the spot. A cat has also been rescued. “This one received oxygen and was taken away by the animal ambulance.”
Senior housing
According to the spokesman, the fire broke out in so-called sheltered housing for seniors. The two homes where the fire raged are part of a larger residential block of thirty homes.
The two homes in the fire were completely destroyed. The neighboring houses were evacuated during the fire and the residents were taken care of elsewhere. “We are now making an inventory of the state of the homes,” the spokesman said. He is hopeful that everyone can go home tonight.
Nothing is yet known about the cause of the fire.
