On Monday evening there was a fire in the basement of a nine-story residential and commercial building on Friedrichstrasse in Berlin-Mitte.

In the basement of the building near the Friedrichstrasse S-Bahn station, a fire broke out in the battery unit of an emergency power supply in the early evening. The smoke development triggered the fire alarm system of a hotel located in the building. However, the Berlin fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly.

The building was then aired. Friedrichstrasse was completely closed for the duration of the operation.

It is not known whether the celebrity restaurant Grill Royal, downstairs in the building, was affected. The guests did not have to leave the posh grill restaurant.
