A fire broke out in the roof of a house on Holtien in Dwingeloo this afternoon. It was initially thought to be a chimney fire, but the fire spread to the thatched roof.
No flames were visible from the outside, but smoke was coming from the roof, according to bystanders.
The fire brigade removed some of the reeds to extinguish the fire. Ultimately we managed to prevent further spread. No one was injured. The roof of the house was damaged.
