Fire in hotel-restaurant Heuvelland: owner to hospital
That is what the Westhoek Fire Brigade says.
Freezer catches fire
“We received the call at 11:41 PM,” said spokesman Kristof Louagie.
“A freezer had caught fire in the basement. This caused a lot of smoke in the building. The fire itself was brought under control fairly quickly. The owner was taken to the hospital as a preventive measure with light smoke intoxication.”
None of the guests present was injured, says Westhoek Fire Brigade.
Also fire at company in Ypres: waste catches fire
At about the same time, the Westhoek Fire Brigade also had to go out to a fire in Ypres† A lot of waste had caught fire at a recycling company on Rozendaalstraat. A crane was also ablaze.
“In order to have a sufficient water supply, four tankers and a high-flow pump were requested in reinforcement.
The fire was eventually brought under control fairly quickly and the pilots could be rescued. Only the tap burned out completely. One bulldozer sustained fire damage due to the heat radiation,” says Kristof Louagie.
No one was present at the time of the fire. No one was injured.
