A fire is raging in a house on Voltastraat in Hoogeveen. The smoke that is released spreads like a cloud over the city.
The fire brigade was called to a chimney fire around 6.15 pm. It is not known whether the flames started there. The fire is now most intense on the top floor. Extinguishing is an attempt to prevent spread to the rest of the home.
Asbestos may have been released during the fire. Research will have to definitively determine this later.
It is not known how the fire started.
