Fire in ex-driver Alex Zanardi’s villa

The villa of the former premier class pilot is affected by a fire. Zanardi himself has to go to the hospital.

Two years after his handbike accident with severe head injuries, former Formula 1 driver Alessandro Zanardi has to cope with another stroke of fate. His villa in Noventa Padovana, northern Italy, caught fire in part on Tuesday, the fire is said to have started due to a defect in the photovoltaic system. The machines on which the pilot depends were damaged, Italian media reported. The 55-year-old was therefore taken to a clinic in the city of Vicenza.
