A resident of De Zorgvilla in Veenoord was admitted to hospital for observation on Friday afternoon after a fire. Three apartments are currently uninhabitable due to the fire.
The fire in the building on Landschapsweg broke out in one of the apartments. According to director Marlies Bijl of care institution De Zorgzaak, it is still unclear how the fire started. No one suffered burns. According to Bijl, a resident who had inhaled smoke went to the hospital for an examination.
Three apartments suffered so much smoke and soot damage that they are not habitable for the time being. “These residents are temporarily housed in De Kastanje, the building next to De Zorgvilla. There was still space available there,” says Bijl. Like De Zorgvilla, the De Kastanje complex is run by De Zorgzaak, a care institution.
