A construction hut was caught in fire this afternoon in the new Asser Kloosterakker district. A lot of smoke was released during the fire and during the extinguishing process, but the fire brigade confirms that the fire has now been extinguished.
Upon arrival, it turned out to be difficult for the fire brigade to reach the burning construction site because the area is still under construction. The fire was discovered by construction workers working on the site. The police do not believe it is arson.
It is not the first time that a construction hut has caught fire in the new housing estate. In June, the fire brigade also responded to the new residential area on the west side of Assen. That same evening, a container also went up in flames and the police suspected at the time that the fire had been lit.
