Fire in complex for people with disabilities in Den Helder, “Resident is outside”

A fire raged tonight in a residential center for people with disabilities on Dintelstraat in Den Helder. The fire brigade has now extinguished everything. There was a lot of smoke but no one was injured.

Many sirens sounded in the neighborhood: around 11:20 pm, the alarm was sounded for the fire in the apartment complex De Zeemeeuw. “The resident is outside with his supervisor,” says a spokesperson for the Security Region.

The fire was ‘short and quick’. It is not yet clear how exactly it started, but it seems that a mattress was on fire. “It was thrown outside. Then the fire brigade ventilated the apartment.”

The house is therefore ventilated at the moment. It is not clear whether the resident will be able to return tonight.
