Fire in a farm from 1807 near Dwingeloo. Flames beat out of thatch, front collapsed

A fire broke out in a farm on the Lheebroek in Dwingeloo on Thursday evening around seven o’clock.

The fire is said to have started in the attic of a farmhouse from 1807 that is covered with a thatched roof.

The fire brigade immediately scaled up to ‘medium fire’ and 10 minutes later to ‘large fire’. Several tanker sprayers and an aerial work platform were alerted. On site, the fire appeared to have spread from above the roof of the thatched farmhouse.

Firefighters are in the process of extinguishing the fire.

Around a quarter past eight, the front of the farm collapsed.

Residents were able to leave their homes in time

According to a spokesman for the Drenthe Safety Region, residents were able to leave the farmhouse in time. No one was injured.

The safety region advises local residents who are bothered by the smoke to keep their windows and doors closed and to switch off the ventilation.

The street is completely closed because of the fire, the police regulates traffic.
