The Steam Engine Museum in Medemblik was dedicated to the fire brigade this weekend. During the Fire Spraying Weekend, visitors could marvel at all kinds of historic fire equipment and enjoy various shows.
For example, the Wormerveer Steam Spray Foundation and the Gorkum Steam Spray Foundation show how fires were extinguished a hundred years ago: with a coal-fired Bikkers steam sprayer. In addition, a number of historic fire engines are exhibited on the site.
A spectacular water-powered attraction has also been arranged: the ‘Flying Firefighter’ of the Nibbixwoud fire brigade. That is a powerful jet of water that propels you about four meters into the air. Then you are thrown through the air at thirty kilometers per hour. So only for real daredevils.
