The first report of the fire arrived around 8.45 pm. A spokesperson for the Kennemerland Security Region says that the fire brigade is busy extinguishing. “The biggest priority is now to ensure that the fire does not spread to the adjacent house.” The spokesperson says that there are no injuries due to the fire.
Aircraft are moving to other runway
A lot of smoke is released during the fire. Due to the amount of smoke, it was decided to land aircraft on the Aalsmeerbaan instead of the Kaagbaan at the adjacent Schiphol, reports ANP. This has no influence on the capacity at the airport, a spokesperson told the news agency. This means that flight schedules remain unchanged.
It is not yet known how the fire started. Local residents who suffer from the smoke are advised to keep windows and doors closed.
