During the major fire in a warehouse on the Grote Dorshees in Beers, glass particles from solar panels ended up in the area. It is advised to remove cattle from the land in the vicinity of the shed.
These are sharp glass particles that flutter down nearby. The particles can cause injuries. According to the municipality of Land van Cuijk, local residents can sweep up the glass particles and throw them in the residual waste.
The fire in the warehouse broke out around a quarter to one on Wednesday night. The barn contained a tractor, farm equipment and bales of hay. This has all been lost. Little is left of the shed. No one was injured.
More often glass particles whirling around
This year it happened more often that glass particles from solar panels ended up in the area during a large (stable) fire. For example, during a large barn fire in Sint-Oedenrode in April. People living within a radius of three kilometers around the barn had to check their own soil for sharp glass particles.
In the same month, a major fire raged at transport company Axell Logistics in Etten-Leur. There, too, glass particles from solar panels fluttered down into the surrounding area. For dairy farmer Joris Buijs, this meant that his 250 cows could not go outside. Friends, family and neighbors helped him clean the pasture.
