The fire broke out in a chalet on the domaine du Vald’Oise, located in the countryside south of the center of Chimay near the French border. The fire spread to other quarters.
The fire brigade called for reinforcements at several barracks to prevent the fire from spreading further. The fire is believed to have started by accident.
A woman was in shock and was helped by emergency services. According to the commercial broadcaster RTL Info, the Chimay CPAS takes care of three affected families. They get temporary shelter.
