Fire brigade Veurne collects dead seagull

A cyclist reported to the fire brigade that a dead seagull was lying under a sheep grid at the exit on the Vaartstraat of the Sugar Park in Veurne. The gull, which may be infected with bird flu, was picked up by a firefighter in protective clothing and will soon be examined for traces of the virus.

In the Sugar Park, many seagulls come to spend the night on the numerous ponds that have been specially created for all types of waterfowl. The bird flu has been circulating on the coast for several weeks. In Nieuwpoort suddenly a lot of dead seagulls appeared. The chance that people will become infected with the virus is very small.
