Fire brigade goes big and breaks barrier for burnt pan

A burnt pan of a resident caused a major emergency action by the fire brigade, police and ambulance this afternoon. Many elderly people live in the Johan Limpershof residential complex in Haarlem, so the fire brigade did not take any risks. Once there, the fire turned out to be not too bad, but a barrier was destroyed in all haste.

Several fire departments, the police and an ambulance came to the fire. Once there, the fire was quickly extinguished, no water even needed. After being checked by the ambulance service, the resident was found to have inhaled smoke, but was not injured.

“A lot of smoke can form with such a pan. We received a report around 5.30 pm that there was smoke in the hallway, so we scaled up,” says a spokesperson for the fire brigade. “We only had to ventilate the place and then the resident could go back into his house.”

The spokesperson does not know exactly how it is possible that the barrier has fallen. “It may be that the barrier did not go up. In such a case, we choose to continue driving to extinguish the fire.”
