Fire brigade extinguishing again at Brouwersdam

Fire brigade still extinguishing at Brouwersdam ANP

On Wednesday, the fire brigade is again extinguishing the dune area at the Brouwersdam near Ouddorp in South Holland. There was a big fire there on Tuesday. A spokesman for the fire brigade says that, as often happens after such a large fire, something started to smoulder. That is why there are again two units present, to extinguish the small fire remnants that are still present.

The fire brigade was already on site when the smoldering was noticed, to clean up after the deployment on Tuesday. According to the spokesperson, there is no major panic and there is no need for large-scale deployment again. “I wonder what could still burn in that area, it’s quite damaged,” he says.

Due to the fire, the N57 between Port Zélande and Ouddorp was closed in both directions for a while on Tuesday and some residents of a nearby holiday park were received in a sports hall. The last remains were removed late Tuesday evening, and the fire brigade was able to leave the area around 2 a.m.
