The fire brigade extinguished a small wildfire in Zweeloo on Monday at nightfall. In a forest area near the Schapendijk, vegetation between the trees burned down.
The fire didn’t reach very high, but it spread over a large area. Due to the size and the possibility of expansion, it was decided to alert additional fire brigade units. Fire brigades from the region of Schoonoord, Emmen, Zweeloo and Westerbork came to help.
The fire brigade managed to get the fire under control quickly with the extra tanker sprayers and water tankers. In total, the vegetation burned down in an area of approximately 250 square meters. Emergency services have not released any information about the cause of the fire.
