A fire broke out on a piece of arable land near De Groeve (municipality of Tynaarlo) tonight. The fire started along the Hunzeweg (N386) between Zuidlaren and De Groeve.
The fire brigade turned out with several cars, partly because of the drought. This allows a fire to develop faster.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the situation under control. They have since left the place. A farmer also helped put out the fire. The piece of arable land that burned out can be considered lost.
The fire caused a lot of smoke for some time, which was clearly visible in the area. It is unknown how the fire started.
