Fire brigade continues to extinguish the fire in Crimea, local residents have not yet returned home

People living in the vicinity of the burning dried flower trade in Crimea still have to keep their windows and doors closed today. The IJsselland Safety Region advises this. The fire brigade still needs many hours to extinguish the last fires.

Yesterday afternoon a fire broke out at the dried flower shop around three o’clock. The fire brigade quickly scaled up because a major fire threatened. Although the building was full of smoke, firefighters were initially unable to do anything. “Files showed that the construction of the building may not have been completely in order. Because the risks were too great, no firefighters went in,” says spokesperson Diane Inkelaar. “We could only watch how the fire developed. At a quarter past six the flames came out of the building and we started extinguishing it.”

Due to large white smoke clouds, odor nuisance and possible asbestos particles, a NL Alert was issued twice. “We wanted to warn people not to stand in the smoke,” said Inkelaar. Around eleven o’clock last night, measurements showed that no asbestos had been released during the fire. “It turned out that there was no asbestos present in this part of the building, which had already been remediated. Asbestos was present in other parts of the complex, but we managed to prevent the fire from spreading to these places.”

The fire brigade worked all night to extinguish the fire and they will continue with that today. “There is still a fire extinguisher present and two cranes are demolishing the building. This way we can reach the last sources of fire, which are hidden deep in the building. This requires quite a bit of work, because it is a large building,” he said. the spokesman.
