A fire has started in a nature reserve on the Oude Willem in Appelscha, just across the provincial border with Friesland.
Because the fire was difficult to reach, several fire brigades, including from Smilde, were called in to extinguish the fire. It is still unclear how the fire started.
Part of nature was lost in the fire. The after-extinguishing work still takes a lot of time.
