A car that was parked at Beukemaplein in Hoogeveen was destroyed by fire last night. The fire was discovered just before 2 a.m.
Another car, parked next to the burning vehicle, was also badly damaged by the flames. The cause of the fire is not yet known, but police are suspecting arson. Police are investigating the fire today.
Hoogeveen has been regularly ravaged by suspicious car fires in recent years. More than two months ago, for example, it was hit three times in a week. Last week, two Hoogeveners were convicted for their involvement in a series of car fires in 2020.
