Upon entering, an employee noticed that the building was full of smoke. The fire brigade discovered three electric delivery cars inside that had been on fire. The sprinkler system quickly extinguished those flames.
The fire brigade scaled up to the large fire signal, several units of the fire brigade were deployed. No one was injured. The area has been cordoned off to allow emergency services to do their job safely.
It is not the first time that a fire has started in one of the Picnic buildings. It is the third incident in more than eight months.
In December of last year, a fire broke out in the Roosendaal ‘hub’ of the grocery delivery, forcing the company to interrupt its services in West Brabant, and last month the building of the online supermarket on the Zeearend in Almelo completely burned down.
