Fırat Develioğlu, who announced that he was a candidate for the presidency in the past days before the Extraordinary Election General Assembly of Galatasaray Club to be held on June 11, announced that he withdrew from his candidacy with the statement he made today.
Develioğlu’s written statement is as follows;
“On 16 May 2022, the President of Galatasaray Club, Mr. Burak Elmas, announced that he would not be a candidate in the elections on 11 June.
I have declared that since the first day of my candidacy, I have been making an effort to ensure that other candidates can emerge from the current two candidates. As we often come across, I did not want to be on the critic side, constantly and irresolutely. I announced my candidacy by putting my own hand under the responsibility without leaving words.
For this purpose, I stated that I am trying to persuade popular and prominent names of the community, including some of our former presidents, to become candidates to get our club out of the difficult situation it is in. If they are nominated, Mr. Adnan Polat, Mr. Unal Aysal and Mr. I argued that I would not compete with Dursun Özbek and that one of these candidates should be united. I was of the opinion that these people should be encouraged and persuaded to the presidency of the club. In the difficult environment we are in, all candidates, Mr. I see that it is necessary to unite under the umbrella of Dursun Özbek.
Mr. Hamamcioglu and Mr. Öztürk with one common list, Mr. I think they should be elected under the umbrella of Uzbek.
For this purpose, in order to open the necessary field for them in this direction, I withdraw from the candidacy without anyone’s favor. I sincerely thank my fans, all my team and the press for their support. After the election, as an ordinary member, I undertake to control the progress of our club like an honorary inspector. Although not in this election, I declare that I am ready for duty whenever the need arises, whenever my supporters call me to duty.
