Fiorentina-Roma 2-2: Ranieri, Aouar, Mandragora, Llorente

Confirming Ranieri and Milenkovic in defence, the Italian lines up Fiorentina with Lopez as director in place of Arthur: Sottil up front with Gonzalez and the former Giallorossi Belotti, while De Rossi changes three players compared to the last Europa League match with Brighton, inserting Llorente in defense, Aouar in midfield in place of Pellegrini and on the right, surprisingly, Angeliño, and offers a Roma version of 3-5-2, which sees El Shaarawy moving slightly back to the left on the midfielders’ line. De Rossi then replaces Mancini (already booked, he had risked a red card) with Huijsen, but fails to shift the momentum of the match. In the second half, the music changes to coincide with the exit of Gonzalez, the real added value of the Viola in the first 45′. And Roma took courage, attacking on the flanks and immediately making themselves dangerous with Cristante. Give and take, the Giallorossi equalized in the 13th minute with Aouar, quick to tap in Angeliño’s cross, which was in turn fed by Dybala in fine style. It seems like a possible turning point for the guests, who gain meters on the pitch, but with yet another high ball into the area the Giallorossi are surprised in the 23rd minute, when Mandragora finds the ball between his feet and leaves Svilar no chance from close range. De Rossi throws Baldanzi and Zalewski into the fray to liven up the game in the attacking midfield, but it is always Fiorentina who press on the accelerator with more conviction. And in the 32nd minute, due to a hold by Paredes on Belotti, he gets a penalty kick which, however, Biraghi has saved by Svilar (fifth penalty error for the Viola in 2024). Moments of pure competitive brawl follow and, albeit in a confusing way, the guests try to equalize until the end. And at the bottom of the well they only find the treasure they were looking for in the last moments: Llorente takes care of it with a powerful right foot under the crossbar.
