Lazio flies, Fiorentina sinks. Another day of glory for Sarri’s team, which captures the third consecutive 4-0 in the league (after those trimmed in Cremonese and Spezia) and leads to third place in the standings, on par with Milan and Udinese. Perfect performance for Roman training. Surgical when you need to take advantage of opportunities, skilled when you need to dribble, solid when you need to defend (fourth consecutive clean sheet in the league). All bad for Fiorentina, which starts well, but then melts like snow in the sun at the first difficulty. For Italian, who pays above all for the shortcomings of his attack, there is really a lot of work to do.

SURGICAL LAZIO

Three changes for Viola compared to Edinburgh, five for Lazio compared to Graz. The first ring is from the Biancocelesti. Felipe Anderson goes under pressure on Biraghi who heads Terracciano, but the goalkeeper is out of the posts and is forced to a bailout on the line. But then Fiorentina lights up and Lazio passes ten terrible minutes. The Viola build three scoring balls that big, but they can’t capitalize on them. On the first, after a rejection by Provedel on Jovic, Ikone slips at the moment of the tap-in and allows Marusic to save. Then it is Jovic again who becomes dangerous: first he shoots a little high from an excellent position, then he gets the shot rejected by Provedel. It feels like a one-way game. And instead, at the first real opportunity, Lazio passes. Corner of Zaccagni and the former Vecino anticipates everyone with a head just a few steps from the door. Viola feels the blow and Lazio is in control of the game, keeping the pace low to favor the dribble and sudden accelerations. On one of these, at 25 ‘, Sarri’s team is doubled: Milinkovic’s soft cross and Zacagni’s header that anticipates Quarta and mock Terracciano. Lazio could also triple a few minutes later: Vecino has an excellent opportunity, but he pulls weakly and Terracciano saves. In the final half, however, it is Fiorentina to raise their heads. The Viola are close to scoring on two occasions: on the first Mandragora hits the top of the crossbar (on the shot there is a providential deviation from Patric), then it is Quarta with the header to commit Provedel.

WITHOUT HISTORY

At the start of the recovery there is immediately another great opportunity for Viola. He happens on the feet of the newcomer Nico Gonzalez (who takes the place of Ikone). But the Argentine, perhaps because he is still cold, smoothes the inviting ball that Kouame hands him. Viola believes in it and forces Lazio to hole up in their area, but Sarri’s rearguard is always very careful. Italian, after having inserted Gonzalez in place of Ikone, also threw in during the second half Barak, Milenkovic, Saponara and Maleh. but the changes, instead of giving the shock, seem to confuse the home team. Among other things, Italian removes Kouame, one of the most active among the viola. Thus Lazio resumes command of operations. Also because Sarri’s changes are more lucid than those of Italian (or perhaps because his bench is richer than that of the Viola). For the biancocelesti enter Luis Alberto, then Hysaj, then Pedro and Cancellieri. The 3-0 could arrive already in the middle of the second half, but Immobile’s shot without fail is printed on the crossbar. A few minutes later it is Luis Alberto who has a good opportunity, but his shot is weak and Terracciano has no difficulty in neutralizing. However, the Spaniard goes back to the 41st minute. The assist from Immobile is too inviting not to be exploited to the fullest. And that’s not all, because in full recovery there is also time for Immobile’s poker on Milinkovic’s valuable heel assist (goal number 188 in A for the striker who is now in the top ten scorers of all time).
