Fiorentina boss on Juventus-Vlahovic deal: “Advisors are liars”

“Very disappointed” by ex-player

The transfer of Dusan Vlahovic, who left AC Florence to Juventus for a total of 81.6 million euros and was by far the most expensive deal of the past transfer period, is still a big topic of conversation after the end of the same. In a video interview published on the club’s website, Rocco Commisso, owner of the “Viola”, complained about the behavior of the 22-year-old and his advisors during the negotiations in recent months.

“I’m very disappointed and have to think carefully about what I’m going to say now,” the 72-year-old began, referring first to his health condition. Because of pneumonia, he should have stayed in the United States at the start of the negotiations. “The doctors told me in November not to travel to Italy as I was not well, but I did it to do my part and bring Dusan and his agents to their senses. In the end he didn’t even say hello to me,” he said.

The entrepreneur was not met with gratitude for his commitment. While Commisso was concerned with extending Vlahovic’s contract, which expires in 2023 and has played for the Serie A club since 2018, the striker already knew then that he would leave the club. “I’ve tried everything, but his advisers are liars and dishonest. In the beginning there was a good meeting, but the next day they came up with new numbers. The original contract was suddenly no longer enough, 4.5 million euros were no longer enough. They suddenly wanted 8 million for the player and 6 million for the agents instead of the previously agreed 3 million. They should not only receive 10 percent commission for future deals, but also the exclusive right to decide on them.”

According to Commisso, these demands only served to force Fiorentina to sell or to accept a free transfer in the summer of 2023. Staying was never planned. “It was clear to everyone that he already had a contract with someone. He turned down every offer,” the owner said.

Commisso on Vlahovic transfer from Florence to Juventus: “Very good deal”

Despite the failed extension and the sale of the most valuable player, the owner, who has been active since 2019, is satisfied with the end result from a financial point of view: “It’s a very good deal for us, someone called it a masterpiece. The sale of Vlahovic alone is enough for 100 percent of the planned income. It’s like Juventus selling someone for 400 million. As a result, we can now look to the future and no longer to the past.”
