Finns have a new favorite sparkling wine – Remember these rules with Prosecco

Prosecco is the favorite sparkling wine of many Finns. Prosecco is made in northeastern Italy. In the taste of Prosecco, fruitiness is particularly emphasized, which is backed by the Glera grape variety. Among the aromas of Prosecco you can find, for example, apple, pear and peach. Glera must be at least 85 percent in prosecco.

Nowadays, Prosecco is also made in a rosé version.

Prosecco gets its bubbles in a steel tank, unlike, for example, Spanish cava, whose bubbles are formed in the bottle. The charmant method used in the production of prosecco is faster than the traditional method.

Among other things, the owner of the winery Bottega, which produces prosecco Sandro Bottega not claiming that prosecco is better than champagne, but emphasizing that both have their places.

– If oysters are available, champagne is of course the right choice. Instead, prosecco works great with, for example, Italian food, pasta, pizza and even spicier flavors.

According to Bottega, Prosecco’s versatility and functionality with different foods is its best feature. Bottega has published a book that contains no less than a hundred different food recipes suitable for prosecco, from risotto to desserts.

Sandro Bottega reminds that Prosecco, suitable for many situations, can also be served in a large wine glass instead of a sparkling wine glass.

– As long as you remember to serve Prosecco cooler than champagne.

The popularity of Prosecco is related to the prevailing freshness trend. In addition to Prosecco, white wines, especially Rieslings, are currently popular, the sales of which have overtaken the sales of red wines. Hartwall Category Manager Ville Porkan there is a freshness trend going on.
