Finnjävel Senses is an experience for all the senses

What happens when the senses of taste, sight and hearing are combined? An experience that moves.

Chef Mikael von Lüders, Jukka Lusua, who specializes in audiovisual design, and Jani Turkkila, restaurant manager, have created the Finnjävel Senses evening. Finnjävel

A restaurant experience for all the senses. It will be available at Finnjävel Hall from tomorrow.

The Finnjävel Senses dinner, which will be held for a week, promises to invite the senses of taste, hearing and sight.

In the experience, Finnjävel’s chef is responsible for the implementation Mikael von Lüdersin in addition, Helsinki Art Hall, nature photographer Riku Karjalainen and specializes in audiovisual design Jukka Lusua.

Lusua is the father of the whole idea.

– I would like to thank my late mother, who served as a dishwasher at all our home parties and always put on good food. As a child, I had an understanding and a love for the experience of food and the senses, Lusua says.

He’s had a bit of a similar-style restaurant night before, so Lusua knows he’s laughing and sensitizing together.

– From experience, I can say that the evening is powerful because it is for all the senses, Lusua says.

Lusua wrote together the restaurant manager of Finnjävel Sal Jani Turkkilan with a story and stories that go on during dinner.

Based on them, a menu was designed from which diners can know in advance only the names of the dishes, such as sledge hill, with winter nets, the magic of Lapland.

– The story ties everything together. It is surrounded by changing sounds and lights. They may or may not be followed, but they still affect the mood.

The screen shows sunshine, a running hare, a prey owl. Music and lights intertwine with food rations.

Body temperature also reacts to color. Yellow raises the temperature, blue decreases.

– It happens involuntarily. Colors and light affect a lot.

The timing of the performance is also important. Lusu would not do the same in the summer, when temperature and sun affect our concentration. Autumn or spring winter, he said, is a more opportune time for a senses dinner.

Menu for all the senses in Finnjävel March 14-19, 2022. The evening begins with a tour of the Helsinki Art Gallery’s Spring Uncertain Spaces exhibition. The price of dinner is 114 € / person, including a non-alcoholic starter.
