The grandmother was moved by the grandchild’s award.

Aftonbladet described the moment as “the most wonderful of the gala evening.”
At the annual Swedish sports gala, Idrottsgalan, a discus thrower Daniel Ståhl won Svenska Dagbladet’s bragdguld award. Awarded since 1925, the medal is awarded to the “Swedish sporting achievement of the year”.
When Ståhl got up on stage to receive the award, he wasn’t there alone. His Finnish grandmother was also there Leila Laakso88.
– Big congratulations, Daniel, for this great award! You have already won a lot, such as Olympic and World Cup gold. But your last throw in the World Cup was absolutely breathtaking.
– Keep going, eat Finnish rye bread and enjoy life. Forward, forward. I am so proud of you my dear grandchild. Our card games are still going on. I guess you’ll have time to play tomorrow? Laakso said in his speech when the medal was handed to Ståhl.
According to Aftonbladet, both Ståhl and many of the audience burst into tears during Laakso’s speech. Then we saw a warm hug on the Friends arena stage.
Last summer’s WC hockey final in Budapest was memorable. Kristjan Ceh managed a throw that reached 70.02 meters, but Ståhl got past with his last throw. The ferocious lunge reached 71.46 meters, which is the all-time highest puck arc in the prestigious competition.
With that, Ståhl became a two-time world champion.
