The director of the series is a Finn Sarah Cantellwhose previous directing work includes Children’s film Onneli and Anneli mixed I will be the bride. Cantell and film producer Teresa Ekman tell Variety– magazine, that at least one important thing will be seen in the series, which was not originally in the book.
– Frantz had the opportunity to give feedback on our script. In the book, the main character Stina is often alone, but in the series she has two roommates who enrich her journey, Ekman reveals.
– Some things have to be changed when the story is adapted from one art form to another. However, I think it is important to stay true to the spirit of the original work. The idea was to keep the same horror as in the book. From my experience, I can tell you that teenagers love to freak out. Since the end of the story is happy and hopeful, there is room for dark nuances in the series, Cantell continues.

Cantelli does have experience with films aimed at young people, but he feels that he can still transform himself as a film director.
– I think you should never underestimate your audience, whether you made content for children, teenagers or adults. As a filmmaker, you have to tell stories that touch you, Cantell reflects.
The series has three episodes, which are about 30 minutes long. The exact premiere of the film has not been made public so far. Helsinki Finland and public broadcasting companies Yle, Sveriges Television, Norsk rikskringkasting and Danmarks Radio have participated in the production of Söder Films’ series.
