The bronze medal game of the WC tournament is always a meeting between two disappointed teams. In the bronze game of the tournament in Minnesota, Finland faced Canada.

Finland lost in the semi-final to Sweden and Canada to the Czech Republic.

Canada took the bronze medals with a clear 6–3 victory.

– Nothing more about this game, the guy was better today and the final result is there, said Julius Miettinen.

In Senter’s opinion, Finland played an up-and-coming tournament.

– The Yankee game was of course top notch and in the semi-final we played well against Sweden. I’m proud of every dude.

– We were one big family here. I have a lot of respect for every guy. It’s going to be a tough evening today, when we say goodbye and go our separate ways, Miettinen stated.

Daniel Nieminen didn’t want to worry about a top-level semi-final against Sweden anymore.

– Sometimes the pucks go in and sometimes they don’t. This is hockey. And today was such a game.

A classy gesture

The Finnish coaching staff gave playing time to all players born in 2006 in the bronze medal game. It was a classy act, the junior national team careers of these players ended last night.

Sweden and the Czech Republic will play in the World Cup final.

Next year, the age group WC tournament will be played in Canada. The game cities are Red Deer and Edmonton.
