Finland, Sweden and Turkey to meet on Friday for NATO accession talks | Abroad

“It’s about how we move forward with the agreement reached by Turkey, Sweden and Finland at the NATO summit in Madrid,” said Linde, referring to a premise that Turkey agrees to Sweden’s and Finland’s candidacy.

Turkey has long blocked the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO and attached several conditions to it. In the agreement, the two northern European countries pledge support to Turkey against threats to national security. Expulsions will also be relaxed.

Delegates from the three countries will now meet alternately in Finland, Sweden and Turkey, according to Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto.
