To prevent nuisance on schoolyards in Koekange, fines are issued to people who hang around there at night. The local police officer warns that visitors can be fined after 8 p.m.
“Due to the many vandalism, you are no longer allowed to enter the schoolyard of obs De Rozebottel and the Prins Johan Frisoschool after 8 p.m.,” the local police officer writes on Instagram. Signs have been hung to remind visitors of the rules.
De Rozebottel states on Facebook that it is generally not a problem if young people meet each other on the square. Things have often gone wrong lately. “Unfortunately, we regularly have to deal with vandalism, rubbish and lots of cigarette butts on the square.”
Smoking is not allowed in the school yard, which is a smoke-free zone. “After consultation with the local police officer, we have decided to issue fines if people smoke on the square and if they are on the square after 8 p.m..”
