The anti-Semitic hatred and violence in Berlin reached new, frightening levels on Wednesday and Thursday nights. It’s a shame that Jews in the city can hardly dare to go out on the streets anymore.
Arson attack on a synagogue, anti-Israel agitation at the Brandenburg Gate, even at the Holocaust Memorial, burning barricades and attacks on police officers and firefighters in Neukölln. An unprecedented escalation.
The consequences for normal life are less visible. In the capital of Germany, the city from which the largest genocide in human history was controlled, in our Berlin 2023, people of the Jewish faith can no longer lead a normal, peaceful life.
In our Berlin of 2023, Jews no longer wear a yarmulke on the street, make sure that their necklace with the Star of David is not visible or, better yet, leave it at home, and it is better to never speak Hebrew on the street because they run the risk of being attacked , as happened just this week, avoid certain areas of this city entirely.
Some people hardly dare go outside the door anymore. In Berlin 2023! That’s the truth. What use is the concern of politicians who claim that there is no place for hatred of Jews in Berlin? He is omnipresent. Don’t talk, act! Finally stop this hate!
