Finally Olympic debut for bobsleigher Ivo de Bruin

Ivo de Bruin from Uithoorn made his debut at the Olympic Games. In the two-man bob he just clocked a time of 1.00’46” in the first heat”, finishing 27th in run one.

The time that De Bruin set was 1.44 seconds slower than classification leader Francesco Friedrich from Germany. He set a time of 59.02 seconds.

De Bruin failed to qualify for the Games in 2014 and 2018. According to NOC*NSF requirements, he also fell short for Beijing. The bobsleigh federation eventually wore it for the four-man bob, because his options were limited by the corona measures to meet the qualification requirements.

The fact that he can also play in the two-man bob on the track in the Yanqing National Sliding Center with inhibitor Jelen Franjic is a bonus. The highest ranking this season was sixteenth place during a World Cup competition.
