Finally Bloemencorso Zundert again: visitors are ready well in advance

Corso Zundert could not continue in 2020 and 2021 due to corona. But this Sunday, the village is finally dominated by this festival of the millions of dahlias. The most diverse creations of twenty hamlets are proudly presented to the tens of thousands of spectators in Zundert.

The parade starts at half past two on Sunday afternoon, but the atmosphere was already set early on Sunday morning. The increasing tension among the participants, the enormous curiosity of the visitors and the sun are the ideal ingredients for a great Corso edition. But the theater acts and the annual fair that were on the agenda in the morning also contributed to the already great atmosphere in Zundert.

“Preparation is also important, isn’t it?”

Bloemencorso Zundert was already the largest in the world, but this parade is even longer than ever. A couple from Haarlem even made it a weekend away so as not to miss anything. Joke and Jan Vertege were already early along the route: “You have to be on time and we did indeed bring a chair, otherwise my back will hurt,” says Jan. A few hours before the start, his wife had already taken fifty photos. “I share them all on Facebook. Anticipation is also important, isn’t it?” Joke asks a rhetorical question.

Mother Nelly Hilgers and son Dave Nagelhout also had a long journey for it. They left Elburg in Gelderland at half past eight, but they are huge fans. Last week they were already at a parade in Vollenhove, this Sunday in Zundert and in a week they will be there in Lichtenvoorde. “But this one, here in Zundert, is the most beautiful and largest. We think it’s beautiful,” says a radiant Nelly. “We were the first here, don’t want to miss anything,” adds Dave.

Omroep Brabant broadcasts Corso Zundert live from 2.45 pm on TV, app, internet and Facebook.
