Paris (AP) – The kick-off of the Champions League final this Saturday evening between Real Madrid and Liverpool FC has been significantly delayed after problems with the entrance. The game is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m., half an hour later than planned, according to the European Football Union UEFA.
The kick-off had previously been delayed by 15 minutes. The organizers initially stated security reasons, after which it was said that it was due to the “delayed arrival of fans”.
Numerous Liverpool FC supporters were not in the stands shortly before the originally planned kick-off at 9 p.m. Pictures on social networks sometimes show chaotic scenes at the entrance and long queues around the arena. The Real Madrid fan areas, on the other hand, were well filled. The AP news agency reported that there had been a number of incidents where fans apparently tried to gain entry without tickets.
The teams came out of the dressing room shortly after 9:00 p.m. and warmed up again.
