Filmmakers receive the Drenthe Carnation Prize

The South East Drenthe Film Foundation (ZOD film) has won the Drentse Anjer Prize. The foundation made the film Limitless Betrayalwhich was shown in Dutch cinemas last year and can be seen on Netflix.

The prize from the Prince Bernhard Cultural Fund includes an amount of 5,000 euros. The other nominees were the Stedelijk Museum Meppel and the Association of Amateur Artists in Emmen.

ZOD film wants to promote the cultural identity of Drenthe and in a broader sense the entire Saxon region through film and video productions. The foundation wants to use local makers and talent as much as possible. The foundation is currently working on a film about Theo van Gogh’s period in Drenthe.

Limitless Betrayal is set in the Second World War and is about the high-ranking German officer Ludwig Mengelberg who is caught between patriotism, sense of duty, conscience and love. The film was largely shot in Drenthe.

The jury says they are impressed by what ZOD film has achieved with the film. “The fact that such a young organization is able to produce such a film in such a short time is an exceptional achievement.”

According to the jury report, the film “puts Drenthe on the map in a different way than is usual” and ZOD film shows “Drenthe as a place where people are there for each other, want to put their shoulders to the wheel and where a lot can be achieved if parties work together.” doing.”

The Green Carnation goes to the Zeijerwiek and Surroundings Foundation. The working group has been active in the conservation and management of our own natural living environment for forty years and, according to the jury, the foundation is a “connecting factor” in and around the village of Zejien. The other nominees were the Veentjes Working Group of the Association of Village Interests Taarlo and the Landgoed & Natuur Eelde Working Group Foundation. The winner of the Green Carnation also receives 5,000 euros.
