Every morning Nancy Vandergroot (Nicole Kidman) says he wakes up in the most beautiful place on earth, the town of Holland in the US state of Michigan. The teacher loves the inhabitants (offspring of immigrants), the tulips and the windmills that emphasize the local Dutch character. But the idyll is cruel when the neat housewife Nancy suspects her husband of adultery. It leads to a bizarre investigation into the trade and walk of this local optometrist.
