Swedish fashion house Filippa K is ushering in a new era under recently appointed Creative Director Liisa Kessler. Her debut campaign introduces a classic swimwear collection that pays homage to the Swedish tradition of ice bathing. Shot on the bare, frozen tundra of northern Sweden, the human form is juxtaposed with the beauty of the landscape to celebrate our authentic connection to nature — and to each other.
As the first successor to Filippa K founder Filippa Knutsson, Liisa started her time at the brand by being inspired by the emotion and energy of the brand’s early days. The collection is a nod to the minimalist swimsuits of the ’90s, with understated, sensual silhouettes.
The choice of materials follows Filippa K’s philosophy of sustainability. Each fabric is made from existing upcycled and recycled textiles to avoid new production. The women’s styles — two bikini sets and an asymmetric one-piece — are made from black velvet, hailed from a previous Filippa K collection, and blue Econyl® polyamide, made from recycled waste. The men’s board shorts and swim shorts are made from black recycled polyamide and blue recycled polyester. An organic cotton beach towel with the updated Filippa K lettering* completes the capsule collection.
The campaign was photographed by Timothy Schaumburg and filmed by Gustav Stegfors, who spent the day with the team capturing the innate sensuality of Scandinavian culture through moments of joy and freedom. Film and images present the new faces of the brand in an authentic context that revives Filippa K’s original mood.
The Filppa K Swimwear Capsule will be available online and in select stores from May 22nd.
