Filip Carpentier, man behind cycling team Minerva, died unexpectedly

Filip Carpentier, who comes from Elverdinge, has been working at Minerva, his family’s bicycle shop, since the age of 18. The wholesaler in Ypres has two bicycle brands of its own. Today Minerva exports bicycles to fifteen countries. The store also offers a wide selection of parts, equipment and accessories, as well as a distributor of fitness equipment, go-karts and scooters.

Last year, Carpentier founded the cycling team Minerva, which has been competing at continental level since this season. Last Wednesday they were still there during the Scheldeprijs. Johan Museeuw (advisor) and former Belgian champion Preben Van Hecke (sports director) are among others working for the team.
